Compatible Software Programs - The graphics department uses Windows platform computers. Most files submitted are compatible with the software programs we have available. The programs used in the graphics department are: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word.

Programs NOT accepted or compatible are: Printshop (versus Photoshop), Microsoft PowerPoint, Print Artist, Calendar Maker and Microsoft Publisher.

Microsoft Publisher is designed primarily for the desktop printing not offset color printing. Pre-press is labor-intensive and increases the amount of production time, and therefore increases the turn around time and customer costs. We can take your ideas from Publisher and re-design them for a professional looking publication. An appointment is necessary with the graphic design staff to discuss your project and alternative options to submit your materials.

Pictures/Images - The printing of pictures and images starts with the quality of the original. When submitting pictures and/or images for a project please be sure they meet the following specifications: 150 or greater dpi (dots per inch), and CMYK color format. Pictures and images downloaded directly from the internet will NOT meet the minimum of 150 dpi, those images will be returned or substituted. To check the image resolution, right click on the file and go to properties and select the details tab. if the resoultion is to low, the image will not be acceptable. If you have problems locating a certain type of photograph or images let us know, we have access to 1000's of copyright photographs and clipart.
